About the air forces

Shortly after the first powered flights, armies and navies started to use aircraft. In 1918 the Royal Air Force became the first independent air force in the world; today almost every country has its own air force, often with naval and army aviation next to it.

On these pages you find the air forces of the Aircrafttotal Encyclopedia: their history, facts and the aircraft they fly, taken straight from the Aircraft Database.
